The OptiMizer combines the best of slow feed netting with the convenience of a multi-bale feeder.
While the standard OptiMizer is working really well with thousands of horses across North America, we recognize that one size does not fit all. We now offer some choices to tailor the OptiMizer to the needs of your herd.
The standard OptiMizer is 34” tall and comes with 1.6” netting.
If you would prefer a Mini OptiMizer with full drainage, select the 5” legs. The top of the OptiMizer will be at about 27”, making it ideal for smaller equids and lower head position while eating.
If you need it to be even shorter, you can choose the MicroMini which is 22″ tall. This model does not have legs and has the drainage in the side of the feeder. Please consider that the shorter size could make it easier for some horses to get their front hooves into the OptiMizer, which could increase the risk of entanglement for shod horses.
If you would prefer a different sized OptiNet to meet the anatomical, dietary, and/or behavioral requirements of your herd, please select either the large (2.5″) or small (1.25″) options. All 3 sizes use the proven durable and gentle OptiNet.
If you have a horse that is particularly hard on nets, you may wish to choose a “shark net” which we are calling the UltraNet. We’ve been testing this net since 2021 with horses that prematurely put holes in the OptiNet. We have been very impressed with its durability. UltraNet is made from ultra high weight polyethylene and is 15 times stronger than steel. We were skeptical at first because the net is thin and feels like plastic. In use … it softens up and feels like cotton. It also shrinks when it is in use – so we quote the net size as 1.75″->1.25″ in areas of high use. Check out the photos below, and if you have a horse that puts holes in nets, consider the UltraNet.
Simple
The OptiMizer is delivered fully assembled. Hand holds on the front and back make it easy to move around the paddock by hand.
Smooth, one handed operation of the slide arm quickly opens and closes the feeder.
Safe
All corners are rounded with 1″ diameters, making a smooth and safe surface if rubbed against.
Slow feed netting hangs inside the feeder and conforms over the hay from the top to the bottom of the feeder.
Effective
The tiniest bits are the tastiest. With an OptiMizer, these delicate leaves aren’t lost to the ground but remain within the manger.
Ensure drainage on any terrain with 13 holes distributed around the base of the standard and mini OptiMizer.
